The dried-fruit and wet-earth character are eye-catching with some cedar and sandalwood. Full body, tight tannins and super polish and finesse. Velvety. A great second wine of Château Pavie. Try in 2022.

Vintage 2015

Full report of Bordeaux 2015 by Andrew Caillard MW “Next in line in a great series of vintages; 2000, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2015.

Written Notes

Aromes de Pavie (St.Emilion) - quite oaky but fruit is there, well-structured, potent and strong. Very good second wine. 89-90p.
  • 89p
Powerful wine with dark fruit driven. Roasted coffee and a hint of red berries can be found. Medium body and acidity but a bit simple and straight-forward in length. 88-90
  • 89p
Ruby. Dark fruits, blackberries, some spices, scented, slightly exotic note nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, rounded, fruity, dark berries, some bitterness in the finish. 89-91
  • 90p
Dark purple red with violet hue and almost black core. Closed character, needs a lot of oxygen, slowly developing aroma reminiscent of pure fruit and hints of mild spices. On the palate well structured expressive fruit, discreet spiciness and distinct tannins, convincing length.
  • 91p
66% Merlot 21% Cabernet Franc 13% Cabernet Sauvignon Deep, fresh fruit, quite dense and full here, the structure is more obvious. Correct and well-constructed but not exciting at this point. 87-89/100 2024-2030
  • 88p
