The Story

Fascinated by the aromatic diversity of Pinot noir in Champagne, Louis Roederer uses the structure and power of the Pinot noir grapes from the Montagne de Reims to create its Cuvée Vintage. Exposed to the north-east, the grapes mature more slowly. The character of this great wine intensifies and becomes more refined through ageing in wood and time.

Composed of around 70% Pinot noir and 30% Chardonnay, 30% of which is wine matured in oak tun...

Written Notes

 Golden with amber tints.
Served blind. Nuts, minerals, dried apricots, brioche, walnuts, oxidaive nose that gets fresher and more detailed and more together almost by the minute. Develops fairly rapidly in the glass but holds on supremely well for the fourty minutes or so I have it.
Fresh acidity, starting out drying out a bit, dried apricots, fried onions, onion skin, bit maderized finish before picking up tha pace as the nose does, getting more dried fruits, nuts, and eventually a pretty perfect balance. Linear and superb. Icredible how well it evolves, turning out really lovely with air. My oldest Champagne to date: Amazing stuff!

Bright amber colour. Complex nose with aroma reminiscent of dried apricots, fine hints of ripe hazelnuts, candied zests and discreet spiciness with a whiff of honey in the background. On the palate a still wine, fine sweetness, expressive depth. A very linear style, typical house style displaying a zesty freshness in the finish as well as hints of caramel. Great.

Complex, charming nose with dried peach, apricots, walnuts, almonds and wet chalk. Dry and crisp palate is vibrant and intense with purity and concentration. Razor sharp, chalky finish is fresh and cool. – JL 96p (Aug 2023)
