The Story

Marqués de Riscal Reserva wines are basically made from grapes from tempranillo vines planted before de 70’s, grown in the best clay-limestone soils of the Rioja Alavesa. This variety withstands oak- and bottle ageing well thanks to its good balance of acidity and fine tannin. The Graciano and Mazuelo varieties, whose presence in the blend does not exceed 10%, provide crispness and a lively colour. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temp...

Super deep browing colour. Pungent nose, s Longweet and plummy, some sour characters. Full and farmyardy with vinegar notes. Stong drying finish.

Dark garnet red with mahagony coloured hue. Expressive nose with hints of graphite, cold smoke, rum marinated fruits, Garam Massala, rose hips and hints of oak spices. On the palate quite elegant with fine acidity, discreet sweetness, slightly dryish tannins but with good aromatic expression.

Good looking normal size bottle. Colour is brownish, and looking dark and deep. On the nose it is mature. The taste is ripe, toasty, with medium tannin ., with drying tannins, and low in acidity, medium-bodied, with balanced structure and tired. On the palate it is layered and has toasty, plum, licorice, vegetal, earthy, dried-fruit and raspberry flavours. The finish is medium long. This wine is beauty and fine. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 1-5 years.
