The 2005 harvest gave birth to tender wines of great quality. To the eye, the gold colour of the wine is enlivened by fine bubbles. The nose expresses powerful aromas of ripe fruit and candied fruits: apricot, fig, raisins.

On the palate, the initial impact is silky and the flavour is full-bodied and rich with explosions of honey flavours punctuated by mild spices. As a whole, the wine unfolds power, complexity and great harmony.

Wine Information

Lanson Gold Label Brut Vintage 2005 marks more than a century of great Lanson vintages since the first was made over a hundred years ago. Produced only from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay Grands Crus, each bottle is aged for at least five years to develop the aromas and flavours that typify the chosen year and the unique house style. Powerful, complex and harmonious. Ideal with white meat and fish dishes.

The House of Lanson makes the difficult choice to declare vintages only in years that can truly be considered exceptional. 1904, 1928, 1955, 1971, 1976, 1983 and 1990 are great Vintages that have gradually built the reputation of Champagne Lanson. Nowadays, Lanson is particularly famous for its collection of Vintage Champagnes.

With no malolactic fermentation, Lanson champagnes are full of promise, enjoying an ageing process which gives them excellent potential for laying down.

Aged for at least five years in cellars, each Lanson vintage develops the aromas and flavours that typify the chosen year whilst also reinforcing the pillars of the Unique Style of the House : fruitiness, freshness and power.

Vintage 2005

The 2005 vintage was a year of marked contrasts between seasons and regions. Following a fairly harsh winter, 2005 had a mild spring with relatively warm temperatures all year long. There was above average sunshine and a slight water deficit, as had been the case throughout the dry cycle of 2005/2004 and 2003. The heat and humidity in July produced larger grapes and bunches, rather unusually for the Champagne region, while the cooler weather in August, followed by a very sunny month of September, led to favourable ripening in spite of heavy parasite pressure. The harvest dates were “typical” of those of the decade: September 12th for Chardonnays and the following day for Pinots Noirs.
