The Story

Composition: 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir – 40% reserve wines

• 60% of Chardonnays, primarily from the Côte des Blancs Grands Crus and Premiers Crus (Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize, Cramant, Vertus…).
• 40% of Pinots Noirs from La Montagne de Reims, mainly from Verzy, Verzenay, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Ay, Mareuil sur Ay…

Characteristics
The Rothschild family’s signature is clearly expressed in this rich, complex and utterly aerial cuvée. The family’s commitment to perfection, to constancy, and the spirit of purity and refinement which dictate consistent, sustained attention stands behind their Brut Champagne. The finesse of the Chardonnay in this Champagne brings you straight into the world of the unforgettable taste of Barons de Rothschild Champagnes.

A unique blend with a minimum of four years ageing Chardonnays and Pinots Noirs, mainly issued from Premiers and Grands Crus. Reserve wines are used for up to 40% of the blend and only the first press «the Cuvée » is used.

Vinification
• Manual Harvesting
• Alcoholic fermentation in thermo regulated stainless steel vats
• Malolactic fermentation
• Bottle ageing of at least 4 years
• Low dosage between 5 and 7g/l , ageing from 6 to 9 months minimum after disgorgement

This rich, ethereal and complex cuvée embodies the essence of the Rothschild Family’s winemaking values: perfection, constancy, and a spirit of purity and refinement, all given the utmost of care.

The Art of Tasting
Appearance: pale golden highlights, combined with very fine bubbles that carry an abundant, persistent foam.
Aroma: This exceptionally fine cuvée exudes aromas of pear and nuts (almonds, fresh hazelnuts) that marry with hints of white flowers and faint toasty notes.
Palate: A strong, assertive opening that leads into a well-rounded wine that is powerful yet contained; the sign of long ageing in traditional cellars.

Wine and Food pairings
Barons de Rothschild Brut Champagne is a complex wine for all moments, ideal as an aperitif or with a Champagne meal. It pairs with light dishes, lightly seared scallops, shellfish and rockfish. Then savour the Cuvée with a risotto, a chicken dish or another white meat. End your meal with cheese, a farmfresh Brie de Meaux or Chaource.

Written Notes

Good looking normal size bottle. Colour is green-yellow and light. On the nose it is open, intense, complex, refined, fresh and charming. The taste is fresh, harmonious, elegant, vivid, and dry, and high in acidity, light, with perfectly balanced, well-structured, well-integrated, concentrated structure and youthful. On the palate it is layered and has white fruits, citrus, mineral and buttery flavours. The finish is long, lingering, pure and vibrant. This wine is impressive. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 1-5 years.
