The Story

Pomerol, Saint-Emilion’s neighbour, is located to the north-east of Libourne and is the smallest of Bordeaux’s prestigious appellations, covering just 800 hectares (1,976 acres) of vineyard.

Tasted in September 2022. When tasted from the barrel in April 2017, I rated it 92p.  It has been in the bottle for several years and maintains this rating. Aromatic cherries, some minerality, complex, polished and finely grained tannin. Caressing finish. Superb effort.

Deep colour. Intense dark berry, elderberry, sweet fruit, fine generous tannins and plenty of savoury oak. Inky and long at the finish Very good. Tasted at Chateau Carbonnieux/ Crus et Domaines Tasting. 95 points

Dark purple red with violet hue and black core. Intense nose with aroma reminiscent of blackcurrants, blackcurrant leaf, blackberries, hints of oak spices and toasting aroma, on the palate well structured with mature tannins, sweet tannins, well balanced with succulent fruit and discreet spiciness. Excellent character. 94
