The Story

Fifty-five hectares (136 acres) at the time of the 1855 classification, fifty-five hectares today: the estate is a rare example of consistency of terroir over the centuries.

Written Notes

Leather straps, oak and midnight spice (star anise, pepper, all the black things etc). Saturating palate density – is modern BDX all over – the tannins are totally superior in shape and feel.

  • 96p

Ruby. Blueberries, anise, floral, scented, red berries nose, detailed. Minerals and boysenberries. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, dark berries, red fruits, elegant texture, somewhat leaner, long. 93-95

  • 95p

Dark purple red with violet hue and almost black core. A wonderful classic wine with great freshness and depth, blackcurrants and ripe blackberries, dewberries in the background. On the palate ripe tannins, juicy fruit, very elegant with freshness and convincing length. A wine back to its roots. 95
