The Story

Château de Beaucastel has long been considered as one of the greatest wines in France. It is famously known for its elegance, balance and ageing potential. Written Notes

Perfect level, perfect cork. Bought directly after release.

The 2000 Beaucastel is continuing to show its class on highest level. I had several bottles during the last five years of this and none disappointed. It has now reached a level of maturity which will last at least another decade. Unlike many other Beaucastel vintages I think it is not necessary to decant this really elegant beauty for more than two hours. Healthy colour without brown edges, clean nose of sweet black berries and herbs from southern France. Full-bodied but by no means fat, great purity, lots of tense, soft tannins. I especially like that Beaucastel offers outstanding depth and perfect balance at a modest 13,5% Vol., even in hot vintages. A great Chateauneuf-du-Pape I can highly recommend.
