Wine Description
The Story
A 5th Classified Growth of 1855 located in the Haut-Médoc appellation, château de Camensac benefits from a vineyard with a total area of 75 hectares. Aged 35 years on average, the vines are planted on a terroir composed of thick Gunzian soils of the Quaternary and fine Villafranchian gravel of the Tertiary. The wine is aged in French oak barrels. The 2009 vintage blends 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot.

The first of a trio of great vintages and which was rather overshadowed by the 89s and 90s. Certainly the most "classic" of the trio, with many wines which are not overtly fruit-focused, but which have levels of extract and concentration which make them perfect candidates for prolonged storage.
