The Tb points given to this wine are the world’s most valid and most up-to-date evaluation of the quality of the wine. Tastingbook points are formed by the Tastingbook algorithm which takes into account the wine ratings of the world's best-known professional wine critics, wine ratings by thousands of tastingbook’s professionals and users, the generally recognised vintage quality and reputation of the vineyard and winery. Wine needs at least five professional ratings to get the Tb score. Tastingbook.com is the world's largest wine information service which is an unbiased, non-commercial and free for everyone.

The Story

There are few places where terroir truly affects production but Château Haut-Bailly is definitely one of those. Château Haut-Bailly has a distinctive style that harmoniously combines classicism with modernity, elegance, finesse and softness with structure. The silky smoothness of the tannins echoes the elegant yet complex aromas.

Château Haut-Bailly has great ageing potential and consistently wins praise from experts who agree that it offers complex pleasure and a richness that is neither aggressive nor ostentatious. These are natural qualities which Haut-Bailly is determined to keep.
Each year the team at Château Haut-Bailly works hard at developing the quality of the wines without interfering with nature. Since 1998, thanks to even more stringent selection controls, the wine has gained a greater depth and precision.

Written Notes

Ruby. Blackberries, cassis, anise, some spices, fruit driven nose, nuanced and layered, scented. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, darkfruits, anise, liquorice and spices, intense, still fine boned, long finish. Touch of alcohol warmth. 96

Haut Bailly - 56% Cabernet Sauvignon + 36% Merlot + 4% Cabernet Franc + 4% Petit Verdot, 13.7% alcohol, 50% new oak. Very mineral, very Cabernet Sauvignon scented with associations to red meat and grilled bacon. Gentler and more elegant than usual, but keeping the richness and sophisticated touch intact. Excellent complexity, balance and persistent finish. Refined and finesse. Fabulous effort. 97p.

Dark purple colour with violet hue and black core. Sophisticated and energetic wine with great aromatic depth and excellent structure. Aroma reminiscent of ripe berries, plums and cherries, graphite and blackcurrant spurs, subtle oak and mild spices in the background. On the palate excellent depth and length, great finesse, multi-layered fruit and fine minerality.
