The Story

The name “La Conseillante” appeared in the middle of the 18th century, when the influential Catherine Conseillan, who owned the property, decided to endow the estate with her name.

In 1871, the Nicolas family acquired La Conseillante, whose surface area (12 hectares – 30 acres) and plots have not evolved since, enabling the estate to hold on to its exceptional qualities. In 1960, Louis Nicolas’ heirs formed the Société Civile des Héritiers ...

Wine Information

Jean-Michel Laportre of Chateau La Conseillante discussed their 2011 Bordeaux harvest and growing season while explaining what they are seeking to achieve with this tricky vintage.

Written Notes

Tasted four times - last time in November 2014. Consistent notes This wine had very aromatic fruit on the nose, silkiness on the palate, great complexity and structure. Long fruity finish.

  • 93p
From 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc, the wine will be aged in 80% new oak. The wine reached 13.4% alcohol. Flowers, truffle, black raspberry, coffee, spice and earthy scents create a complex perfume. Pure silk and velvet with ample freshness, acidity and chalky tannins, this is a classic vintage for La Conseillante. 93-94 Pts
