The Story

Grapes are hand-picked. Fermentations last about 3 weeks in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, with frequent pumping-overs and addition of yeasts. Wines are afterward transferred to oak barrels, of which 25% are new, for 14-18 months aging. They are fined and filtered prior to bottling. No press wine is added into the grand vin.

Rauzan Gassies CC - 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot. The same team runs it as at Croizet Bages in Pauillac, twins Jean-Philippe Quié and his sister Anne-Francoise, young generation of the Quié family. Lovely and fragrant nose of raspberries and black cherries, velvety fruit and tannin on the palate, elegant and seductive, smooth and lingering finish. Improved significantly in recent vintages. 93-94p (94p).
