The Story

A dessert wine that's not overwhelmingly sweet, Kracher Beerenauslese Cuvee from Austria has a nice creamy texture with subtle flavours of tropical and stone fruits. A lovely sip to have along with a cheese platter or dessert.

Wine Information

This is the hour of truth: the climate and terroir of the Seewinkel, together with the harvest and vinification - so carefully and lovingly carried out - are perfectly expressed when a bottle of Kracher is opened.

At tastings all over the world, wine journalists keep on singing praises.
Stuart Pigott, the British wine writer living in Germany, was already raving in 1996 in the Los Angeles Times about “the full ripe flavours, silky richness and great elegance” of Kracher wines. Then Bruce Sanderson wrote in the Wine Spectator: "Kracher´s range of 2000s – they are stunning wines that combine lushness, power and botrytis character.” Roger Voss reported in the Wine Enthusiast that “A tasting at the Kracher winery will leave you well out of superlatives.” And Ray Isle wrote in Food & Wine magazine that the Kracher wines “are some of the best dessert wines I ever tasted".

The series of Trockenbeerenauslesen wines are at the top of the pyramid – in the king´s class, so to speak - where botrytis and fruit are united together in perfect harmony. Kracher produces also Auslesen, Beerenauslesen and, if the vintage allows it, ice wines, as well as Spätlesen with clear, clean primary fruit.

And then there are the dry wines – firm, harmonious, full and round. Burgenland at its best. "With our climate, there is no such thing as light, zippy wines," says Gerhard Kracher, emphasizing the style of the wines. This is true for the firm, well-structured Pinot Gris as well as for the red Blend I and Blend II (cuvées from Zweigelt and Merlot).
