A powerful and refined expression from one of Côte-Rôtie’s most esteemed lieux-dit, the 2020 Les Becasses offers depth, complexity and classic northern Rhône character. The bouquet is intense and layered, with ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and dark plum balanced by vibrant floral notes of violet and lavender. Underneath, savoury hints of smoked meat, olive tapenade, cracked pepper and graphite add nuance and drive.
On the palate, it is full-bodied with a solid yet silky structure. Concentrated dark fruit melds with firm, well-integrated tannins and lively acidity, imparting energy and precision despite the wine’s richness. Flavours of blackberry, black cherry and cassis are complemented by savoury spice, roasted herbs and mineral complexity that build through the mid-palate.
The finish is long, intense and persistent, marked by dark fruit, spice and a lingering mineral edge. A compelling Côte-Rôtie that balances power with elegance and shows significant ageing potential.
