The Story

Southeast of the Mondot hill, overlooking the town of St. Emilion lies Chateau Troplong Mondot. Named for its location and its former proprietor, Gerus Troplong, this estate has been home to viticulture since 1745. Its 33 hectare vineyard is planted to 90% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. "Cold," late-ripening soils produce one of the most dramatic wines of the appellation: an exotic, flashy, modern Saint-Emilion.

Ruby. Blackberries, anise, dark fruits, blueberries, some coffee and chocolate, layered nose, deep and intense. Almost dense nose, yet lifted. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, juicy, detailed, elegant texture, spices, blackberries, detailed, nuanced, intense and long. Very juicy, with texture. A beautiful expression. 95-97

Dense, pulpeux avec une touche d’épices. La matière présente une charpente très sûre, puissante qui portera dans le temps cette chair ferme et soyeuse. 95-96

 Dark purple colour with violet hue and black core. Elegant nose with ripe fruit, blackberries, hints of blackcurrants and Mara des Bois in the background. Blackcurrant spurs and discreet floral hints, liquorice and mild spices complementing the nose. Elegant with good structure, freshness and concentration with excellent depth and length. Very promising potential.
