The Tb points given to this wine are the world’s most valid and most up-to-date evaluation of the quality of the wine. Tastingbook points are formed by the Tastingbook algorithm which takes into account the wine ratings of the world's best-known professional wine critics, wine ratings by thousands of tastingbook’s professionals and users, the generally recognised vintage quality and reputation of the vineyard and winery. The Story

The 30 hectare estate is set on a mix of gravel, iron and mineral soil with a scattering of sand throughout. Planted to mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a large portion of Merlot and a small portion of Cabernet Franc, the blend sees all three grapes mixed to create the wine best representing the terroir of the site. Fermentation takes place in cemernt tanks, while the wine is sent for a year to mostly old oak barrels. The resulting wines are savoury, fine, medium-bodied and readily drinkable as a young wine.

Vintage 2020

In Bordeaux, the heat led to early flowering. Additionally, this led to an early harvest after a very hot summer. As a starting point, there is great maturity in the grapes, and we can expect a more opulent vintage than in recent years.

This year's summer was the hottest since 1959, but the rain fell at just the right time during the growing season. The harvest took place two weeks before the norm and will produce grapes with high alcohol potential and the lowest acidity since the 2003 vintage. As they say in Bordeaux: “It was a good and extreme growing season which , hopefully, also produces great wines.”

Written Notes

Dark purple colour with violet hue and almost black core. Fine and initially slightly close nose with elegant fruit reminiscent of blackberries and blackcurrants, plums and hints of elderberries. In the background fine toasting, subtle oak and mild spices. On the palate well structured with ripe tannins, mature fruit, elegant toasting and gingerbread spices, balanced with good depth and convincing length.

Croizet Bages CC - 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. Jean-Philippe Quié and his sister Anne-Francoise have successfully improved the quality here in the recent vintages. It was quite an aromatic, complex and well-composed wine with elegance and finesse, juicy and vivid. Delicate and lingering finish. Gorgeous wine with an identity. 92-93p.
