Wine Description
The Story
Shiraz (formerly known as ‘Hermitage) is an important of Coonawarra’s history. The acknowledged reputation of Coonawarra for age worthy wines has largely centred on Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Shiraz blends. However, the very early history (in the 1890s) centred on other varieties – particularly Shiraz. Today Wynns is privileged to hold Shiraz vineyards on many prime locations within Coonawarra. Furthermore, Wynns planed Shiraz through the 1990s and these now mature vineyards have steadily improved in recent years, spurring us on to create a new home for these distinctive, rich and expressive wines.
Wynns Black Label Shiraz is a superb example of Coonawarra’s cool climate style. Displaying great fruit density and character this wine displays rich and complex flavours of red berries, spice and chocolate, layered fruit underpinned by tightly focussed tannins.
