The Coonawarra is famous for Cabernet Sauvignon, but is gaining a reputation for great Shiraz. The marriage between the two varieties reflects Wynns history through the early Claret-style wines of the 1950s and 1960s. The distinctive fruit from these vineyards has a signature finesse and is a defining characteristic of this location along the Coonawarra strip.
Ripe and delicious. Lots of clove and blackfruit notes. This has much bigger and bolder flavours than the straight V & A Shiraz. A little black cherry and a touch of florals.
The wine is a 76%/24% spoilt between cabernet and shiraz. The two varieties were co-fermented and then spent 15 months in new and seasoned French oak.
There are fine tannins here. Good length. But what stands out is the explosion of flavours
