Written Notes
This is the first release of this wine, though it has now been on the market for a while. There will be no 2011. 2010 is a strong, even vintage.
The wine does seem to be exhibiting some oak, a slight sawdust thing. This was not so apparent last time I looked at it, almost a year ago – Wynn’s put it down to this bottle being served a little warmer than perhaps it should be. They have noticed that if the wine is a little warm, the oak tones do stand out.
But it is a minor quibble and this is a lovely wine. Red fruits, quite deep. Good intensity. Lovely supple texture. A wine with depth. There are plenty of tannins here, but more than enough fruit and flavour to stand solid with them. The finish, and there is very good length, is tending more to the black fruits but offers a lovely plushness. A nicely balanced wine and as the fruit continues to soak up the oak, will look better and better. One for the future.
