The Story

V&A Lane is a long, straight road that dissects Coonawarra’s famous terra rossa strip at its midpoint. Believed to have been surveyed in the late 1840s, the lane divides the original electorates of Victoria and Albert. Traditionally, it has been used as a landmark to separate northern and southern vineyards in Coonawarra, and is a prestigious and sought after locality for growing exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.

In 2008 two wines were made to honour Wynns’ prized vineyards along V&A Lane – a straight Shiraz and a Cabernet Shiraz blend. The distinctive fruit from these vineyards has a signature density and richness, the defining characteristic of this location along the Coonawarra strip.

Written Notes

In case you were wondering, V & A Lane was surveyed back in the 1850's, dividing the original electorates of Victoria and Albert. This shiraz is much more refined and austere than the Black Label. Gentle, balanced, quite seamless. A quite elegant line runs through it and it lingers. A very fine wine but without the soul of the V & A Cabernet Shiraz or the pizazz of the Black Label Shiraz.
