    My Yesterday

We are excited to report that the very first issue of Falstaff International Magazine has been published!

We, Falstaff International, are a new magazine dedicated to winefood and travel. Here is some background on our company history and the plans we have for this new publication.

Headquartered in Vienna, Falstaff International is edited in London and published globally. Its inaugural digital issue was published in July 2021 and its first print edition will appear in October 2021. From then onwards it will appear quarterly with a global print circulation of 100,000.

Falstaff International is the first foray into English language publishing by Falstaff Publishing. Founded in 1980 as a wine magazine in Austria, Falstaff now is an established media platform in German-speaking Europe with leading publications and websites in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and a German print ciculation of 142,000. In all three countries Falstaff publishes authoritative annual wine guides reflecting and representing these countries’ wine industries. The German and Austrian guides also appear in English.

Publisher Wolfgang M. Rosam decided to shake up the international print scene. The first print issue of Falstaff International magazine will appear in November 2021 and will not only be distributed in 41 countries but also to industry insiders: the best restaurants, wine shops and hotels. Of course the magazine will also be available digitally via all the usual channels.

Prager Grüner Veltliner Wachau DAC Ried Zwerithaler Kammergut Smaragd 2022 / Light greenish yellow, silver reflections. Fine savoury, delicate nuances of anise, tobacco notes, delicate yellow fruit, a touch of mango and honey blossom. Full-bodied, juicy white apple fruit, well-integrated, silky acidity structure, finesse and long persistence, saline finish, lingers for minutes, Veltliner at its best. 99-100 points

Weingut Prager 2021 Grüner Veltliner Wachau DAC Ried Zwerithaler Kammergut Smaragd / Pale yellow-green, silver glints. Delicately savoury, with a hint of meadow herbs, soft aniseed and caraway notions, notes of ripe yellow stone fruit, delicate mango and honeydew melon. Complex, juicy, enormously concentrated, white stone fruit, taut and tightly woven, filigree acidity, salinity and lingers for minutes. Definite ageing potential for decades. A Grüner Veltliner marvel par excellence - will remain unrivalled for a long time. 99-100p

Weingut F. X. Pichler Grüner Veltiner Unendlich 2017 / 100 points
Medium yellow-green, silver reflections. An inviting bouquet of fine blossom honey underlaid with nuances of fresh apricot, fine tropical fruit and a floral touch. Juicy palate with fine fruit, silky structure, elegant acidity, all perfectly balanced. Mineral and long on the finish, this is extremely satisfying and will age beautifully.

Peter Moser / BWW2024 Finalist, Wine Writer (Austria)  had a tasting of  23 Wines  from  3 Producers

Kracher Chardonnay Trockenbeerenauslese No. 8 Nouvelle Vague 2007 /Deep golden yellow. Intense papaya and coconut aromas over grapefruit and citrus notes make a thoroughly exotic first impression. The exotic quality carries through on the palate, where roasted oak and cinnamon add another element. Thrilling acidity gives balance and focus to this voluptuously sweet wine. Flavors of papaya, pineapple and toasted coconut linger with great persistence. Although already quite harmonious, this wine should continue to gain in complexity over the next decades.

Weingut Emmerich Knoll Gruner Veltliner Smaragd Vinothekfullung 2005 / Medium yellow-green. Intense dried fruit aroma with a hint of smoked bacon on the fascinating nose. Opulent, sweet papaya and wet pebbles are found in a full-bodied wine that is given shape and lift by refreshing acidity. I'd wait on this one for a year or two. Drink 2008 to 2015.
