The Story

The word anima refers to the vital life force or soul.  Our ethos “Terra Est Vita” – Soil is Life, is our acknowledgement that for us, soul animates everything on earth, from the minerals, through plants and animals to humans.  We’ve called our Chenin Blanc Anima, because the lively minerals of Avondale’s soils give this wine its own delicious, spirited character and extraordinary finesse.

Written Notes

Bright, green-yellow colour. Refined and aromatic nose which is a bit closed still. Some ripe apples, orange blossom and ripe lemon. Dry, silky texture with solid chalky minerality and oily structure. Vivid acidity and concentrated mouthfeel with refined fruit intensity with savoury orange peel finish. A charming wine that shows its high quality by being extremely enjoyable at the room teperature. This wine will evolve and age in bottle for next 10-15 years, but is fabulously enjoyable already. If served now, decant for 30 minutes and serve at 10-12°C. Great companion to smoked fish, grilled white meats, and sauteed seafood, but don't need food to please. JL 90p (3/2021)
