The Story

Ripe fruit notes of dark plum and cherry along with background vanillin oak. Rich in colour with deep red tints, due to
the low yield and low juice-to-skin ratio. For this wine, mostly large format puncheons and a 3000L cask are used. Dry ripe tannins give perfect structure and carry the sweet fruit right to the back palate. An impressive wine, which is a great follow on from the 2014 vintage. Subtle but powerful.

Vintage 2000

The winter 2000 in Australia was quite dry and Spring was cold and miserable.  Summer and Autumn had a few rainfalls through them, with temperatures were normal.  The results were very low crops producing wines of nice fruit character and extremely juicy but not particularly tannic (below average).  The wines are lovely fruit wines.

Written Notes

Medium deep crimson. Negroni, dried figs, praliné, paneforte aromas.  Superbly concentrated wine with deep set, black cherry, blackberry strawberry fruits, wonderful richness, tobacco herb notes and superb vigorous tannins. Finishes chalky dry - again with a tannin plume. 94 points
