The Story

The vineyard is planted in 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. At around five hectares, Certan de May is a tiny jewel poised between Vieux Château Certan and Petrus. It was very strong in the 1980's, then slipped a little through the 1990's. From 2005 onwards the estate has been back on track, producing elegant yet fleshy and flamboyant wines at a very reasonable price.

Vintage 1962

Bordeaux Vintage Report by Tb / If 1962 was also a fabulous year, it fell irrevocably in the shadow of 1961. Written Notes

Good looking normal size bottle, in an good condition and has top-shoulder level. Colour is and looking bright, deep and mature. On the nose it is intense, fresh, generous and round. The taste is voluptuous, elegant, medium-bodied, with satin texture, concentrated and balanced structure. On the palate it is layered and has dried-fruit, perfumed, violet, truffles, tropical fruits, blackberry, smoky and cigar-box flavours. The finish is long, round, lingering and flavorful. This wine is sophisticated and well-rounded. I paid around 500-1k€ a bottle. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 10-15 years and decant at least 45min before tasting. Good value for money.
