The Story

The power and elegance of a great Pauillac. Daring, innovative and known for often being the last to harvest, Jean-Charles Cazes defined the style of Lynch-Bages in the 1930's. The wine's distinctive character earns it its place amongst Pauillac's greatest. It combines structure, finesse and elegance. It is generous in its youth and develops more complex aromas with bottle age.

Written Notes

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Lynch Bages offers up crushed black berries, black cherries and dried herbs with an earthy undercurrent. The medium-bodied palate is firm and taut with lively fruit and a chewy finish.

Dark purple red with violet hue and black core. Expressive nose, mulberries and blackberries, discreet oak spices, on the palate well structured with ripe tannins, elegant character with persistent finish, good length.

Deep colour. Intense fresh elderberry cassis aromas with liquorice, aniseed notes. Sweet fruited and densely packed with lovely cassis, praline flavours, fine grainy tannins and plentiful new vanilla oak. Finishes firm with lovely mineral length. Very good wine. 96 points

Very deep colour, solid block on the nose, not very yielding, this is immediately silky on the palate, rich dense and impressive core of fruit, very fresh, great ripe tannins here ripe will be a classic Lynch Bages and a definite buy if the price is reasonable. This is a wine that never flatters en primeur, it is always foursquare, impenetrable, and a vintage like this it sings. 93-96/100 2030-2060
