The Story

Château Pape Clément's red wines are vinified in oak casks. This favors uniform fermentation, unlike steel vats which are prone to temperature variations. Maintained between 29 and 30°C during fermentation, then between 27 and 29°C during maceration after fermentation, moderate temperatures allow for gentle extraction of tannins and color. Before the wine is drawn off, fermentation varies between 20 and 35 days depending on the evolution of ta...

Vintage 2013

BORDEAUX 2013 VINTAGE REPORT

The 2013 vintage in Bordeaux was one of the most difficult since 1965 and 1968. Thomas Duroux of Château Palmer describes it as “the most complicated vintage in 20 years”. Written Notes

Dark purple red with violet hue. Aromatic and opulent nose with distinct roasted aroma reminiscent of dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans and cold smoke, graphite and mild spices, backed by elegant berry fruit. On the palate well structured, full bodied with convincing length.

On the nose it is youthful and closed. The taste is focused, vivid, firm, powerful, with drying tannins, and high in acidity, medium-bodied, with complex, well-structured structure, youthful and the palate is aggressive. On the palate it is layered and has smoky, blackcurrant, floral and spice flavours. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 10-15 years.
