The Story

The south facing 12 acre vineyard – located in the sleepy picturesque and biscuit-coloured Murrumbateman landscape – is planted on sandy clay loams over friable clays. Written Notes

The Viognier vines were now ten years of age and finally producing a reasonable quantity. The blend was 80/10/10 Shiraz/Pinot Noir/Viognier. The Pinot and 1/3rd of the Shiraz fermented as whole bunches. Maturation in a mix of old and new French oak from a range of coopers, with a small amount of older American oak. No fining or filtration. 13.0%.

Unfortunately, the ugly side of yeast infection interfered. There was a smidge of brett spoiling the wine, scalping the finish and detracting from the flavours. Underneath, the impression was that there had been good fruit but one best avoided.
