Vintage 1995

A small crop of high quality for long ageing. As in 1985, the acidity in the white wines is hidden behind the ripe fruit. 

An early frost and cool June weather severely reduced the size of the 1995 crop. July and August were fine, dry and warm, but cooler conditions arrived in September, bringing showers and overcast skies. 1997 has been a pet vintage of mine to drink over the past year or so for the whites, as they are ‘right thurr,’ and the Leflaive was no exception. There was great balance in the nose of butter, mineral, musk and that Leflaive mint wax thing. The nose was deep, yet the palate was less intense but still nice and with some vigor. Touches of spice made up for a lack of mid-palate density. Soft and charming, the 1997 was very enjoyable
