The Story

Magari is an Italian expression having different meanings “If only it was true…!”, “Maybe…”. It carries a sort of irony which leads people to smile, without showing off the great commitment and determination associated to the Ca’ Marcanda project.

A blend of 60% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Petit Verdot all fermented and macerated separately for 15 days.

After 12 months of ageing in oak, the three varieties are bl...

Written Notes

In the coastal vineyards of Bolgheri, the year opened with a calm, well-balanced winter. Rain arrived in measured amounts, enough to nourish the soils without disrupting their rhythm. There was a sense of quiet order in the landscape, as if the season was being carefully set in place before anything had even begun.

Spring continued this feeling of control. Budbreak was even, flowering was clean, and the vines moved forward without interruption. For Magari—traditionally a blend built on Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot—this steady start hinted at a vintage that would favor clarity and definition over excess.

As summer developed, warmth gradually increased, but it remained moderated by the ever-present sea breeze. The Bolgheri coastline played its usual role: softening heat, preserving acidity, and stretching ripening into a slow, balanced progression. The grapes developed color and concentration, but without urgency or stress.

What defines the story of 2024 is not intensity, but composure under gentle pressure. Each variety in the blend found its own rhythm: Cabernet Franc bringing aromatic lift and herbal precision, Cabernet Sauvignon providing structure and depth, and Petit Verdot adding quiet color and tension. Nothing felt exaggerated; everything felt aligned.

Harvest arrived with a sense of confidence rather than urgency. The fruit had reached maturity evenly, allowing for careful selection and a focus on preserving freshness alongside ripeness. The decisions in the vineyard were about nuance—capturing balance at its peak moment.

And so, Magari 2024 becomes a story of refined integration.

In the glass, it is expected to show a vivid but controlled expression: blackcurrant, ripe plum, and dark cherry layered with graphite, Mediterranean herbs, and subtle spice. The texture is likely firm yet polished, with tannins that provide structure without weight and acidity that keeps the wine lifted and precise.

Unlike more powerful or austere vintages, 2024 leans toward harmony rather than tension. It does not seek to dominate the palate; instead, it unfolds gradually, revealing its structure in quiet layers.

Magari 2024 is, in essence, a story of balance expressed through restraint. A vintage where power is present but carefully held, where elegance comes not from fragility, but from control.

It is a reminder that in Bolgheri, greatness does not always announce itself loudly—sometimes it arrives in the form of quiet precision, shaped by wind, light, and time working together in subtle agreement.
