Written Notes

(15.5% alcohol): Deep ruby-red. Youthfully medicinal perfume of black cherry, dark plum and wild sage. Densely packed, superconcentrated and extremely young, showing lovely inner-mouth focus and floral lift to the flavors of dark cherry, licorice and minerals. Not a hugely thick vintage for the Hillside Select but wonderfully delineated and perfumed, and very young. The tannins are silky. This lovely 2009, from a slightly above-average crop level, may eventually merit an even higher score.
