The Story

TD-9 is a proprietary blend that celebrates a bold move. In 1973, in the space of a few months, John Shafer went from riding morning commuter trains in Chicago to teaching himself to drive a TD-9 tractor in our Napa Valley vineyard. He’d never grown grapes or made wine in his life. That spirit of risk-taking and adventure still guides Shafer today and inspired the creation of this new wine.

Written Notes

Good looking normal size bottle, in an perfect condition and has by the neck level. Colour is purple and deep. On the nose it is intense and ripe. The taste is perfumed, full of energy, and dry, high alcohol content, with high tannin, with sweet tannins, and average in acidity, full-bodied and with concentrated structure. On the palate it is layered and has blueberry, tobacco, blackberry, chocolate, new-oak and floral flavours. The finish is long and flavorful. This wine is nice but not special. I paid around 50-100€ a bottle. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 5-10€ years, decant at least 30min before tasting and this is not a good invest wine. Too expensive for quality. I do not recommend it.
