Written Notes

2008 was warm with 1,227 °C days of heat and a 15-day heatwave beginning of March. Harvested 17 March. 9,000 bottles.
Mid bright copper colour. Immediately riper and fuller and more flattering to taste. Still lots of acidity but good undertow of fruit. A hint of lemon sherbet. Fresh finish.

This was difficult following the Piper Rare 2002, but soon the subtleties take over. Obviously full of creamy Chardonnay fruit on the nose here, almost botrytis, very easy and charming palate. There is great minerality in this wine and it hits the spot for me, lovely spicyness on the finish, there are definite Meursault like characteristics. A pleasant surprise, I am sure this would stand the acid test against a fine White Burgundy.
