The Story
Brut Nature champagne
Grapes: 70% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir
Terroir: Vineyards "L'Enclume", "Les Marguiniers", "Les Forgeottes" and "Pierre de Bellevue": Friable limestone, hard limestone and chalk.
Vinification: Spontaneous (no yeast added) first fermentation in oak barrels. No malolactic fermentation.

In 2004, the long maturation of the grapes, harvested late in September, gave an intense aromatic expression and a great balance, almost aerial. hence the name of this wine, L'Aérienne, from a few selected plots. It is a Champagne Brut Nature, that is to say non-dosed.

A great example of how large yields do not necessarily mean poor quality in Champagne. As a reaction to the previous year's low yields, the vines produced one of the largest crops on record. The growing season proceeded without major difficulties but the bumper crop called for bud thinning. August brought about cooler weather and some rains, increasing the risk of rot.
