Written Notes

There was good rainfall throughout the year, with no drought. The harvest started warm and fine on 19th September, but then became dull, rainy and cool.
‘Pale, red, transparent colour, not very deep; balsamic perfumes: pillbox, gum, roasted oak; very sweet, jammy flavours, medium structured, well matured.’

The 1960 Taylor's Vintage Port has a deep brick colour with tawny rim. The bouquet is simple and innocuous: ripe cherry, blood orange, fig and rose petals, although it does gradually reveal more nuances. The palate is medium-bodied with notes of wild strawberry, orange peel, hazelnut and fig. It is not a complex Vintage Port, but it is supremely well balanced with a discrete spiced finish. It is an understated Port whose charms manifest themselves slowly over time – a charmer. Tasted in the Factory House in Porto for "Taylor's - The Story of a Classic Port House" book.
