The Story

At the end of the 17th Century, Dom Pierre Pérignon stated his ambition to create ‘the best wine in the world’.  On 29 September 1694, Dom Pierre Pérignon wrote that his mission was to create “the best wine in the world.” He dedicated himself to improving viticulture techniques, perfecting the art blending grapes from different crus, and introduced the gentle and fractional pressing to obtain white wine from black grapes.Ever since, the House...

DOM PÉRIGNON
VINTAGE 1928

THE HARVEST
Excellent year. We harvested at the end of September. Average crop, but magnificent grapes.

TASTING NOTES
The color was stunning in this ancient bottle of Dom. The nose was very exotic and very fresh, “stony”, and also pungent. Its texture was soft yet lingering like a great, mature Montrachet, almost a ringer for a great old Ramonet.

Written Notes

This officially second-ever made Dom Pérignon, was tasted blind in my wine photography exhibition´s opening in Helsinki in 2005. It had a developed a golden colour with refined yet vibrant bubbles. The nose was full of roasted coffee aromas with scents of butter and spices. Crisp, opulent and mouth-filling wine with good mousse that managed to trick us into guessing the vintage to be from the Fifties. Absolutely astonishing and gracefully aged wine with beautiful light-bodied style with an elegant toasty finish.
