100 BEST CHAMPAGNES 2024
by Champagne Magazine and Tastingbook
For over a decade, the world’s only champagne-dedicated publication, FINE Champagne Magazine, has been the ultimate authority on ranking the 100 Best Champagnes of the Year. Now in its 14th edition, this prestigious list unveils the very finest champagnes available internationally, exclusively on Tastingbook.com.
Celebrating the Champagnes of Today
Unlike many rankings that focus on potential, the 100 Best Champagnes list highlights the wines at their best today—champagnes that are ready to be uncorked and savored today. Each wine is scored based on its current accessibility and quality, encouraging champagne lovers to enjoy these treasures without hesitation while reserving those that will improve further with age.
Every champagne in the Top 100 is highly recommended for immediate enjoyment, though many promise to mature into even greater brilliance over time.
The Method Behind the Magic
This is no ordinary ranking. The 100 Best Champagnes list is not derived from a single tasting session but is the culmination of evaluations throughout the year. These insights culminated in the grand 2024 finals, held over seven meticulously blind-tasted sessions featuring 305 champagnes. From this selection, the 100 finest were chosen.
To provide a comprehensive view, the rankings also include Top 10 lists for specific champagne cuvée categories, offering something for every aficionado’s palate.
A Record-Breaking Year of Quality
The 2024 rankings boast an unprecedented average score of 91.8 points, the highest in the history of the 100 Best Champagnes. No wine below 90.5 points made the list, showcasing the remarkable consistency and elevated quality of this year’s contenders.
Even more impressive, none of the wines were marred by faults such as cork taint or luminescence issues—a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship behind these champagnes.
The Winners’ Podium
The Top 3 Champagnes of 2023 are nothing short of extraordinary:
🥇 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Rosé 2012 – Scoring an average of 98 points, this prestigious rosé champagne claimed the top spot with its flawless elegance.
🥈 Krug Vintage Champagne 2008 – A masterclass in complexity, narrowly taking second place.
🥉 Roederer Cristal Rosé 2014 – Already superb but with the potential to become a perfect 100-point champagne as it reaches its peak.
The Top 10 were dominated by prestige champagnes, setting the standard for excellence in 2024. Meanwhile, the title of Best Non-Vintage Champagne went to Moët & Chandon’s Collection Impérial No.1, a newcomer that dazzled the judges.
