ACKER TOASTS A SUCCESSFUL 2016 IN ASIA

Acker’s last auction in Hong Kong on 10 December, was led by strong demand for Bordeaux which accounted for nearly 50% of the sale’s HK$30 million total, though it was in fact Burgundy which claimed the top lots with a six magnum lot of Domaine de la Romanee Conti 2003 storming in the lead and selling for HK$444,600 (US$57,368).
Asian markets outside of Hong Kong continued to drive demand, reported the auction house with Mainland China and Japan accounting for over 40% of the day’s sales, matching Hong Kong itself.
Acker, Merrall & Condit has hosted sales in Hong Kong for nearly 10 years with the company’s Chairman and CEO John Kapon, heralding Hong Kong as Asia’s most important wine hub and highlighting Acker’s string of successful auctions throughout the years.

The top five lots of the sale included:
- Six magnums of assorted Domaine de la Romanee Conti 2003 which fetched HK$444,600 (US$57,368)
- Six bottles of Domaine de la Romanee Conti La Tache 1999 which fetched HK$271,700 (US$35,058)
- 24 magnums of Penfolds Grange in OWCs from 1979-2002 which fetched HK$247,000 (US$31,871)
- One magnum of Domaine de la Romanee Conti 2006 which fetched HK$187,720 (US$24,222)
- Four bottles of Domaine de la Romanee Conti La Tache 1990 which fetched HK$187,720 (US$24,222)
Acker Merrall & Condit’s last auction of this year will be held in New York on 14 December, followed by Asia’s first sale of 2017 happening on 14 January.
