Vintage 2015

Full report of Bordeaux 2015 by Andrew Caillard MW “Next in line in a great series of vintages; 2000, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2015.

Written Notes

Tasted in October 2016. Fabulous stuff. Excellent ripeness of fruit and tannin, extremely refined and focused, great precision, excellent balance and rivetting finish. Figeac is back for good!

Very ripened and intense mixture of red and dark fruit, complex and concentrated aroma. There were quite a lot of tannin in mouth but very silky and smooth, accompanying plenty of freshness and acidity. Very long finish. The wine was integrated and well balance between the powerful intense fruit and elegance freshness. 96-97+

Dark purple red with violet hue and black core. Very elegant and persistent aroma, multi-layered with dark berries, cherries and hint of plums, mild spices in the background. On the palate well structured with sweet fruit, excellent length and weight. A truly great wine, very Figeac, with freshness and minerality.

Deep colour. Intense liquorice, cassis, pastille, praline aromas. Fresh sweet fruit flavours, pastille, dark chocolate flavours, fine plentiful ripe velvet tannins and underlying savoury oak. Graphite finish. Lovely balanced wine with vigour and dimension. A great Figeac - totally controlled and balanced. Gorgeous wine. 29% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon. 98 points

Figeac - 29% Merlot 28% Cabernet Franc 43% Cabernet Sauvignon Quite a deep colour, the nose is concentrated for sure, complex with violet and a savoury edge, touch of balsamic, a dense palate, restrained like the 2010, earthy notes again of the Cabernet Sauvignon coming through, inky, quite powerful, solid and strict. There is plenty of ripeness, this is balanced, a fine Figeac. 94- 96/100, 2024-2045
  • 95p
Deep ruby. Dark fruits, some spices, fruity, blackberries, tight, scented, nuanced, floral notes behind. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fresh, fruity,d ark berries, spices, detailed, juicy, nuanced, minerals, long, almost delicate yet intense, long. Lots of finesse. 2030-2070 94-96
