The Chateau Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2023 ($40) – From a single vineyard in the Eden Valley, 20% whole bunches were included in fermentation, which took place in barrel. Lees stirring and then eight months maturation in a mix of new and older French oak barriques. Just 665 cases.
The colour is a shining yellow gold. This is a fine Chardonnay, taut, poised and a slightly leaner style. There is a hint of oak evident. Notes of cinnamon and nutmeg with white peaches and florals. An appealing supple texture. Very good length. The palate sees notes of ginger and citrus emerge. A really attractive Eden Valley Chardonnay with another five to six years ahead of it. 93.
