The Chateau Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 ($40) – This is not just from a single vineyard, but from a selection of thirty-two rows, located in Eden Valley. A year and a half maturing in a mix of new and older French oak barrels. 

An appealing but still very youthful warm climate Cabernet with plenty of room to improve. Deep purple/maroon. We have notes of cassis, black fruits, tobacco leaves, chocolate, warm earth and cold tea. A flick of oak which is still integrating. This is concentrated, burly and firm and, at this early stage, still exhibits some of that Cabernet doughnut structure, though the flavour is strongest upfront. Firm tannins. A powerful style with ten to fifteen years ahead of it. 92.
