The Story

Bryant Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon made from our 13-acre estate vineyard atop Pritchard Hill, overlooking Lake Hennessey.

The vineyard’s west-facing slope is perfectly positioned to capture the prevailing cool lake breezes, while also providing protection from drying canyon winds. The unique combination of rocky Sobrante soil, sunlight, cool breezes, soil depth and meticulous farming site to yield wines of exceptional quality. This first growth vineyard is meticulously farmed by David Abreu, with whom we have worked closely for more than 12 years. A beautiful expression of our unique terroir, this wine is a testament to the dedication of our winemaking and vineyard team who aim to produce the finest wine possible from this site.

Written Notes

The next wine had a big, in-your-face nose with a hint of green as well as some smoke, earth, banana and coffee on the pot a little too long. The flavors and aromas reeked of Helen Turley. The wine was smooth, gritty and balanced yet somewhat simple overall in its personality, although the finish did gain in the glass for this bottle

Good looking normal size bottle, in an excellent condition and has by the neck level. Colour is ruby red, and looking healthy and deep. On the nose it is intense, refined, opulent and generous. The taste is round, focused, elegant, toasty, refined, warming, with silky tannins, full-bodied, with balanced and complex structure. On the palate it is layered and has blackcurrant, cassis, herbs, perfumed, tropical fruits, tobacco, mineral, leather, cigar-box, violet, smoky and spice flavours. The finish is long, pure, lingering and round. This wine is sophisticated, excellent and fine. I paid around 1k-3k€ a bottle. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 10-15 years and decant at least 2h before tasting. Good value for money.

Healthy medium red. Inviting aromas of red berries, spices and balsamic cedar, plus a faintly liqueur-like quality. At once silky-smooth and firmly built, conveying an impression of energy to its flavors of redcurrant, wild herbs and tobacco. Finishes with dusty but harmonious tannins. This is still remarkably youthful and gives the impression that it will continue to unwind with more time in the cellar.

Bottle was like new. Decanted two hours. The color is dense and dark. The nose is powerful and open with a good complexity. The huge scents of black fruits, creamy oak, licorice, plus exotic spices are all there. At first the volume of the tannin has a tendency to overwhelm the fruit in the mouth, but after two hours in decanter the wine became more fruity and balanced. Bit by bit the silkiness and multi-layered structure of the wine emerges, dominating the end of the tasting. Its finale is very long and powerful. Very good already, but will be certainly better in few years.
