The Story

Bryant Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon made from our 13-acre estate vineyard atop Pritchard Hill, overlooking Lake Hennessey.

The vineyard’s west-facing slope is perfectly positioned to capture the prevailing cool lake breezes, while also providing protection from drying canyon winds. The unique combination of rocky Sobrante soil, sunlight, cool breezes, soil depth and meticulous farming site to yield wines of ...

Written Notes

The 2021 Bryant opens with a spectacularly lifted and aromatic bouquet: blackcurrant, ripe blueberry, blackberry liqueur, and plum skin, layered with violet, lavender, fresh sage, and graphite dust. Subtle waves of cedar, cocoa nib, crushed rock, and warm forest floor emerge with air, adding complexity and a palpable sense of hillside terroir.

On the palate, the wine is silky yet commanding, a masterpiece of tension and purity. The fruit is both radiant and perfectly delineated — cassis, black cherry, mulberry, and black raspberry — all carried on a frame of fine, powdery, beautifully resolved tannins. There is a cool, blue-toned mountain energy here, giving the wine a sense of vertical lift and quiet power.

The mid-palate unfurls with notes of licorice, espresso, sweet tobacco, and dark chocolate, supported by a shimmering undercurrent of crushed slate and volcanic minerality. The acidity is vibrant and precise, offering extraordinary balance and freshness without sacrificing depth.

The finish is long, focused, and deeply resonant, echoing with dark fruit, floral spice, graphite, and a lingering mineral tension that slowly fades in layers.

A stunning 2021 Bryant — pure, sculpted, and profoundly elegant, combining mountain precision with effortless richness. A wine of both beauty and backbone, with 30+ years of graceful evolution ahead.

  • 98p

Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, dark fruits, liquorice, spices, blackberries, rich, fruit forward, long.

  • 95p

Firmly structured, age-worthy and so focused and deep in black fruit, this is an especially impressive wine from a highly rated year. Aromas of mint, cedar, star anise, charcoal and graphite, then blackberries, dark spices, blueberries and toast. Massive but fine-grained tannins that carry the intensity through to a lingering finish. Full bodied. Best after 2030.
