1815年、ギヨーム・ロートンは、早々と、シャトー・ラフィット・ロートシルトに次のような賛辞を残しています。「3軒（のプルミエ・クリュ）の中でも、極上のエレガンスと繊細さ、そして精気を備えたワインである。メドックでも最も優美な場所に位置するブドウ畑に数えられる。」1855年、万国博覧会を機会に制定された、かの有名な格付け。シャトー・ラフィット・ロートシルトは、格付け第一級の認定を得ています。

Wine Information
この年のブドウ栽培サイクルは、低温かつ比較的多湿な冬からスタートしました。萌芽は2009年より若干遅めの4月中旬に迎えます。4月は乾燥傾向で、日照量豊富な月となり、ブドウは理想的条件の下で生育しました。5月および6月には、雨天と晴天が交互に訪れます。6月初旬に気温が下がったことで、メルロの開花は乱れ、花ぶるいおよび部分的結実不良が発生しています。
幸運にも、7月にはかなりの乾燥傾向（降水量20ミリメートル以下）が見られ、気温も比較的高かったことから、開花時の遅れを上手く取り戻すことが出来ました。8月および9月は、日中は適度に高温で、夜間は冷涼の乾燥した日が続きました。結果、ブドウはゆっくりと完璧な成熟を得ることが出来ています。
