The Tb points given to this wine are the world’s most valid and most up-to-date evaluation of the quality of the wine. Tastingbook points are formed by the Tastingbook algorithm which takes into account the wine ratings of the world's 50 best-known professional wine critics, wine ratings by thousands of tastingbook’s professionals and users, the generally recognised vintage quality and reputation of the vineyard and winery. Wine needs at least five professional ratings to get the Tb score. Tastingbook.com is the world's largest wine information service which is an unbiased, non-commercial and free for everyone.

Wine Spectator - Bruce Sanderson - December 31, 2007

90 points "A lovely blanc de blancs. Finely textured, showing ginger, honey and light bread dough notes. This is balanced and tastes dry, with a crisp, refreshing finish. Drink now through 2018."

Wine Enthusiast - Roger Voss - December 01, 2007

91 points, Cellar Se "A finely structured, delicate, elegant wine, this has a pure white fruit and mineral character that lies easily on the palate. The aftertaste is soft but there is still a steely edge to the wine, which promises long aging. Give it at least 5 years."

Wine News - Wine News Staff - December 2007

93 points "Buttery lemon scents have a slight yeastiness. Rich apple, apricot and peach flavors with an edge of fresh acidity. Excellent length and weight leaving lasting peach, toasted almond and vanilla impressions."

Wine & Spirits - Joshua Greene - December 2007

94 points "The ripeness chardonnay achieved in 2000 at Roederer's vinyards takes this wine's aromas toward fresh pineapple, kumquat and the more traditional lemon-citrus scent of Champagne. It's tightly built in elegant layers of fruit and chalk. Complexity develops with air, as does the luscious texture of the wine. Dynamic and delicious, this will only gain from several years of age."

Wine News - Lyn Farmer - December 2007

92 points "Medium yellow color with fine bubbles and notable brillance. The first aromas showcase soft citrus and red apple; in the mouth the benefit of the extra time on the lees clearly shows in the fine texture and depth of flavor. Apple, candied citrus peel and a hint of yeastiness make for a winning combination that stretches into a long finish."

Wine Enthusiast - R.V. - November 01, 2006

90 points “A ripe, soft wine, one that’s creamy on the palate. There is just a touch of caramel, but the main flavors are of crystallized lemons, pears and honey. This is a delicious, fresh and a great aperitif wine.”

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar - J.R. - November 2006

92 Points “Pale gold. Suave, vibrant, floral nose combines spicy quince, lemon and white peach and a salty mineral overlay. Brisk, nicely focused and pure, with finely etched flavors of peach, yellow plum and soft citrus fruits complicated by floral honey, mint and macadamia nut. Finishes clean, brisk and sharply delineated, with a subtle note of sweet butter and excellent length.”

The Story

From 1830 onwards, the House of Louis Roederer acquired extensive knowledge of the terroirs and plot-by-plot vinification, and mastered the effervescence. In the heart of the Côte des Blancs, where the Chardonnay grapes attain optimal maturity on the calcareous soils, Louis Roederer has selected two exceptional grands crus: Mesnil-sur-Oger and Avize, whose unique characteristics and complementarity enable the House to produce taut, highly aromatic wines that have finesse.

100% Chardonnay, the Blanc de Blancs Vintage cuvée is generally matured on lees for five years and left for a minimum of 6 months after dégorgement (disgorging) to attain perfect maturity.

In the mouth, the attack is typically Chardonnay—it is smooth and delicate, and markedly sweet. Slightly sweetened floral notes and white fruit and dried fruit notes are combined with the almost chalky minerality of the Côte des Blancs. The texture has notes of sugared almond, a sensation that is strengthened by a soft effervescence that envelops the mouth. This is followed by an impression of finesse, elegance, and freshness, strengthened by suggestions of fresh mint and basil.

Vuosikerta 2000

A warm and wet winter was followed by an equally wet spring. First, in May, came the seri- ous heat, which gave a fast owering around June 14. Chlorosis and mold growth were evi- dent. June and August were hot and dry. But if you were like me, and tried to have a July vaca- tion in Champagne that year, you noticed how cold and rainy it was. The weather was almost as bad as at home, with constant rain and local hailstorms.

Everything looked hopeless, but the good weather during harvest saved a decent amount of fresh grapes. Harvest started on my birthday—September 11—and ended in early October. Chardonnay and pinot meunier did better than the delicate pinot noir. The year will become sought after thanks to their magic number. The quality does not look too fancy yet though. The wines are quite light with short lives. However, it is a very enjoyable moment, with its intense exotic aromas of passion fruit and tangerine. I am delighted to recommend some romantic bottles of the successful pink trio William Deutz Rosé, Louis Roederer Cristal Rosé, and Pommery Cuvée Louise Rosé.

Colour: yellow with light greenish/gold highlights. Wonderfully persistent bead of very ebullient ultra-fine bubbles.

Nose: scents of crystallised citrus (oranges, lemons) mingled with sweeter notes of ripe fruit (apples, pears), velvety, honey-scented flowers and sweet pastry. Airing brings out those hints of caramel typical of Louis Roederer, an indication that some of the wines in the blend were wood-aged.

Palate: all the signs of an impressively rich Blanc de Blancs, generously endowed with plump, vinous, creamy substance. Finishing with a confident acidity that strikes a perfect balance between dense fleshiness and concentrated fruit. The taste is like biting into crisp, almost plummy fruit with delicate aromas of juicy, ripe grapes, sweet pastries fresh from the oven and those subtly toasty notes that are the mark of lush Chardonnay grapes.

Bright, green, small elegant bubbles. Very expressive and linear nose - very intense, mineral, lemony and peachy. The taste is also very intense, crisp, mineral, medium-bodied, broad but firm structure, very long lemony finish. This wine is build to last. So keep at least for 3-5 years. Will keep another 10-15 years.
