The Story

Written Notes

This superb wine derives from one of the best vintages of the 19th century. Excess amount of heat during the growing season can be felt in this wine as moderately high level of alcohol and very ripe almost sweet fruitiness. Fine looking bottle with Christie’s label. Level was mid-shoulder. Decanted 30 minutes.

The colour is amber red with plenty of fine sediment. The nose is surprisingly intense with spice and cigar notes. Even hints of blackcurrants can be sensed. Medium-bodied palate possesses sweet dark fruit and spicy ginger tones and moderately high acidity. High alcohol adds roundness and sweet tones to the moderately long mineral finish. Delicious wine drinking very well still!
