Vintage 2019

BORDEAUX 2019 VINTAGE

When I was visiting Bordeaux early March, Corona was a threat on the horizon and France has been more concerned by a strike of the air traffic control. Written Notes

A pure, focused red with blackberries and blackcurrants. Very floral, too. Medium-to full-bodied, tight and fine-tannined. Pretty clarity and balance to this. Less muscular than the 2018, but very attractive all the same.
Barrel Sample: 95-96

Leoville Barton – 84% Cabernet Sauvignon + 16% Merlot, 13.88% alcohol, 60% new oak. Very detailed and refined nose of high-quality blackcurrants, striking complexity, multi-layered. Great complexity, structure and length. No modern vinification frills here! This property always delivers classy wine to keep for several years. Awesome effort. 96p.

Dark purple colour with violet hue and black core. Again a classic style with subtle oak and discreet spiciness backed by juicy fruit reminsicent of blackcurrants and dark berries. On the palate elegant with aromatic depth, excellent depth and length with ripe tannins and delightful freshness lingering in the aftertaste.
