The Story

The red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Cinsault. Serge Hochar, who has been involved with the property since 1959, states that the Cabernet Sauvignon provides "the bones and the skeleton to the wine, the Carignan the flesh and muscle and the Cinsault the silky smooth finesse".

Written Notes

Mid ruby. Pale rim. Heady, animal nose. Jewel-sweet fruit and quite an aggressive attack. Still quite edgy. For the moment it could do with a little more concentration in the middle. But it’s certainly sweet at the beginning. Not the most refreshing but very confident and vigorous. Reminds me a bit of the 1980. Some light tannins evident on the end. Still resolving itself but admirably transparent.

Moderately intense, bright ruby colour. Intense volatile nose. Underneath sweet intense red fruits, milk chocolate and nuttiness. Dry, medium acidity, mellow tannins, chewy intense fruitiness and balanced alcohol. Medium-bodied wine with moderately long finish.
