The Story

Domaine Ramonet produces 24 Appellation wines from 40 Acres located primarily near the hamlets of Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune region in Burgundy.  Parcels of vineyards were progressively acquired since the first acquisition in 1934, the most recent being Bouzeron in the Côte Chalonnaise.

Written Notes

The 1992 Ramonet Montrachet delivered out of magnum as always.  This has always been the wine of the vintage in Burgundy, and even more so out of magnum!  Its nose was on the sweet side of this tropical vintage, showing lots of rainwater.  Its palate had great texture dripping with sticky honey.  Its palate was absolutely gorgeous, sweet in all the right spots.  There was a harvest full of corn here, and this regal white sat in my belly as it sparkled on its finish.  Thank you, Bill (99M).

Inside Information

Chardonnay grapes grown in Burgundy’s famous Montrachet vineyard produce some of the finest expressions of this varietal in the world. Montrachet means “bald hill” in French, and the vineyard is so named because of its abundance of limestone in place of normal topsoil. Domaine Ramonet Montrachet is the estate's flagship and top wine, dominated by floral and citrus notes with undertones of toast. Flavors of orchard fruits are punctuated by notes of resin and spice.
