Light salmon colour with reddish gold play of light, fine, persistent mousseux, delicate, fresh and very animating nose, fruit and spice with hints of fresh cherries and forest berries, a sophisticated note of citrus, caramel and yeast. Dry, fruit-driven yet creamy on the palate, finely woven with elegant acidity and mineral extract, very harmonious structure.

The Story

Bründlmayer Brut Rosé is one of the sparkling wines of the wide range of wines produced by one of the leading wineries in Austria, with 70 hectares of vineyards in the northeast of Vienna, now led by Willi Bründlmayer. The base wine is a coupage of Pinot Noir, Zweigelt and St. Laurent. It has a second fermentation in the bottle and a period of aging in rhyme over 18 months.

Grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Zweigelt, St. Laurent

Winemaking: Grapes are harvested between the first week of September and the second week of October. This sparkling wine is made of main red varieties Pinot Noir, Zweigelt and St Laurent. These grapes are sourced from different chalky parcels in our vineyards which lends the wine freshness and while most of the sites are southeast facing slopes, the wine also receives warmth. The harvested grapes are transported in small cases directly into the cellar, where they are very gently and carefully pressed. Only the heart of the must is used for the sparkling production.

The base wines of the individual grape varieties were vinified separately and went through malolactic fermentation. Subsequently, the cuvée was produced (with the somewhat more powerful charges of the Zweigelt used for the still rosé wine).

Maturation: The base cuvée is vinified in the bottle in classic fashion by adding sugar and yeast after bottling and gets 18 - 24 months yeast contact before the process of remuage. After prolonged elevation on the yeast the bottles are disgorged.

Alcohol content: 11.5%

Bottle closure type: Natural cork

Tasting notes: Light salmon hue with red-golden reflections. A fine persistent mousse, delicate but very animated. The fruit & spice aroma gives undertones of cherries and wild strawberries, a bit of citrus and caramel and yeast notes. Fruity and creamy with an underlying complexity on the palate; also elegant acidity and a minerally extract. Remarkably harmonious structure.

Drinking temperature: 8 – 10°

Food pairing recommendation: Sekt with food? And how ! When it comes to celebrating with sparkling wine, it is often forgotten just how wonderful it can be with food – until the beauty of Bründlmayer Brut together with a wide variety of dishes is experienced !

Such as at the beginning of a fest or reception, when the most diverse amuse-bouches are offered. Whether oysters, tapas, antipasti, shrimp spears, salmon tartar, cocktail breads or any other imaginable appetizer - sparkling wine has barely received praise for how beautifully it complements and refines these small refreshments.

The true sparkling wine lover always comes back to a Bründlmayer Brut for a fine evening: fish, poultry and light or cooked meats and nearly any exotic dish are perfect with a glass of sekt. Its pearly freshness wonderfully complements desserts as well. And its versatility shines even more with an array of cheeses.
