The Chateau Single Vineyard ‘Bethanian’ Shiraz 2022 ($40) – Bethanian is a local name for Bethany, the oldest settlement in the Barossa, dating back to the 1840s. Just 1,000 cases made. From a single vineyard, the wine spent time in a mix of new and older American and French oak. 

An inky maroon hue, the nose exhibits plums and licorice with mocha, coffee beans, axle grease and blackfruits. This is a wine with good energy and a generous structure with good opulence. A fine line of acidity carries the wine, with silky tannins on the finish. Seamless, seductive and supple, with excellent length. Expect this to provide pleasure for at least the next eight to ten years. 94
